Job Searching

So today, I got a phone call from a job recruiter at Insight Global for a contract position with State Farm Insurance in the Lancaster area doing installs, hardware support, etc. Turns out I’m not qualified because I don’t have a credit card! I was so close to getting the position too. Apparently I would have had to fly to Chicago for training, and would have needed a rental car (which requires a credit card and that you be over 25 years old). So either way, I would not have been able to do the contract work. This bothers me in 2 ways

  1. If I have a perfect driving record, and have held a license for 4 years, why can’t I rent a car until I turn 25?
  2. What does owning a credit card have to do with anything needed for having a job?
I must point out that I have a Fulton Bank Debit card, which I can also use anywhere Visa works. Also, why would I needed to fly to Chicago if the contract work would be in the Lancaster area? So confusing…

The Split-Up

OK, so I am sure you are all aware by now that Zac and Josh Farro have left Paramore, and I just wanted to give my opinion.

Firstly, when I first read this, I was pretty shocked. I didn’t cry, I didn’t even frown. I just read it and thought “Wow, that sucks. Oh well, the band will still go on!” Seeing people say on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc. that they were crying seems like they were over-reacting to me. I am not gonna say that was a bad thing (you are entitled to your own opinion), but sometimes, people just need to be more mature.

Now, after thinking about this for a day, I can provide my insight about why they left:

  1. Josh got married, and he and his wife wanted to see each other more. Touring across the country (and the world) must have been hard because they were not able to see each other all the time. I know if I were in that situation, I would feel the same!
  2. They just were not happy with being in the band. Maybe they wanted to start a new project, or maybe just move on, we will never know the true answer. Either way, I wish them luck with whatever they choose to do now.
  3. Ever since the “Twitpic” incident, things overall seemed to not be going to well with the band as a whole. Based on what I have read, their meet-and-greets were less interactive, and overall not as great an experience.

Whether or not you agree with my thoughts is totally up to you, and I respect your opinions. Feel free to leave your thoughts in a comment. And no matter what, I still support them no matter what else happens! Paramore Is A Band!

‘Sesame Street’ videos hit with adults as well (via The Marquee Blog)

I watched Sesame Street as a child, and I still occasionally see myself watching it here and there while flipping between channels.

If we’d had the ability to tweet, Facebook “like” and otherwise share stuff we think is awesome online back in the ‘70s and ‘80s, no doubt classic "Sesame Street" clips like the “Pinball Number Count” would have gone viral like some of the “Street’s” latest segments. Aside from the Katy Perry cleavage debacle (a video that made its Web rounds despite the fact that it won’t actually air on the children’s program), there have been a string of other … Read More

Star Wars Pin-Ups (via The Swedish Bed)

Star Wars Pin-Ups Whats Hiding under this Imperial helmet ? Some readers on Buzzfeed and on this blog were shocked by one of my last post about Lilo and Stich grown up. I was accused of " raping childhood memory " of some ( very open minded ) people. Why ? … Because i was showing a different angle of a well known artist who happened to make movies for kids but who can also make cartoons with sensuality and big boobs in it ( YES BOOBS  end of the world …  ) So … Read More

How To: Remove the “Who to follow” box on Twitter

This is fairly simple, and takes less than 5 minutes.

  1. Download and install Mozilla Firefox (if you aren’t already using it)
  2. Install the Greasemonkey add-on from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748/
  3. After restarting Firefox, navigate to this page and install this script: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/82673

And that’s it! The box should no longer be visible. You may have to refresh your Twitter homepage in order for it to work.

By the way, this will also work in Google Chrome. You do not need Greasemonkey, just click “Install” on the script page and it will be added as a Chrome extension.

Tweet Button Now Available As A WordPress Feature

To enable, go to your Dashboard. Under “Appearance,” select “Extras.” Then, enable the “Show a Twitter Tweet Button on my posts” option. Couldn’t be simpler!
